Last week we spent several days at the Johnson Family Reunion at Fort Worden in Port Townsend. Every few years or so, we rent out the old officers' houses and have about 60 people altogether. It's a nice time to catch up with relatives (on my mom's side) who come from all over the state, the country and internationally, as well.
Unfortunately, Kyla was not feeling 100%. She was overwhelmed with all the people (can you really blame her, though?), didn't sleep well in the strange house (none of us really did) and seemed to develop some canker sores in her mouth, which hurt when she ate. All of which made for one fussy, tired, over-stimulated child.
Despite all that, we did have a good time, even Kyla rallied for some fun at the beach! And between crying sessions, she was able to enjoy herself and show glimpses of her usual happy, charming self.
