A few of my favorite things

Often people will ask whether Kyla likes a certain food/toy/activity/etc. So here is a short list of her current likes/dislikes.

FOOD
Yes, please!
Likes:
Kyla is eating formula, rice cereal, oatmeal, a wide variety of jarred fruits, veggies and chicken, Cheerios & fruit/veggie puffs

Dislikes:
none, as of yet (so far, seems as though she's taking after Mama)

TOYS
Favorites:
  • the Exersaucer
  • her giggling busy bee (we need to get a new one, as it no longer giggles, just makes short, stunted surprised sounds)
  • a plastic toy car handed down from when Ally & Riley were babies
  • playing with her carseat (but not being strapped in it)
  • the cats, although they don't fully appreciate being pursued as "toys"
Not so into:
  • her baby swing, although at one time, it was a best friend
  • any one specific comfort toy i.e. blankie, binkie
  • jumperoo - I think she'd rather be holding onto someone, standing

ACTIVITIES
Likes:
  • sleeping, 10-12 hours a night plus 2-3 hours in naps (yet another sign that she is taking after Mama)
  • supporting herself standing/"walking"
  • dancing
  • teething/putting anything and everything in her mouth (including any cats who have the misfortune of getting too close for too long)
  • sucking her thumb when she is hungry or sleepy
Dislikes:
  • baths (we've resorted to holding her in the shower to wash her)
  • having her diaper changed
  • being in the car seat for too long
  • being held when she wants to stand/walk

NEW DISCOVERIES
  • one handed clap, almost like she's patting you on the back or slapping her knee
  • putting her tongue between her lip & her toothless bottom gums
  • Mr. T is very tolerant of her grabbing, pulling & lunging
  • pulling up on coffee tables, couches, calf muscles (it's amazing how babies are able to grab chunks of skin on seemingly un-fleshy parts of your body, for example, a shin... ouch!)
  • the mountainous stairway (baby gates to follow, shortly)

Always a beauty and happy baby! I'd love to see the actual struggle she puts up at bath or diaper changing time : ) It can't be all that bad. Jack wants me to tell you, "Hi Kyla!"

sleeping & eating are two of the finer things in life... it's best to cultivate a taste for these things early. she's definitely her mama's daughter!!
